JORDAN
I'll never forget being dropped off at the Israeli border and having to drag my bags across a long bridge to Jordan due to heavy security concerns; however, the journey to Petra, the Rose City, was an iconic part of our trip that is described by the Smithsonian Magazine as one of the "28 Places to See Before You Die." Built around 312 BCE, this symbol of Jordan is carved out of rose colored stone and resides in a basin amongst the mountains which form the eastern side of the Wadi Araba.
