TIBET
Having been to Laos, I became fascinated with Buddhist culture. The thought of traveling in the Himalayas and seeing the traditional headquarters of the Dalai Lama became very intriguing.
The first emotion evoked in me as we approached Lhasa by van was one of serenity. The air was cool with not a cloud in the sky and no humidity. The Potala Palace where the Dalai Lama lived before he went into exile stared me in the face. We proceeded to the Jokhung Temple on Barkhor Square, which is considered a sacred shrine for Tibetans. From there we wandered through The Barkhor with its narrow streets where we encountered both pilgrims and locals.
